Question 1

What is a Try Dive?

Accepted Answer

A Try Dive is a chance to experience scuba diving in the pool and see if it’s for you. It’s designed for complete beginners and isn’t a diving qualification.

Question 2

How much does a Try Dive cost?

Accepted Answer

Try Dives cost £30 for adults and £25 for under 18s. Anyone under 18 will need parental consent.

Question 3

When and where are Try Dives held?

Accepted Answer

Try Dives take place on the second Wednesday of every month at Halo Swimming Pool in Hereford, from 7:15pm to 8:30pm.

Question 4

Can you accommodate group Try Dives?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can arrange Try Dives for groups and have previously worked with Scouts and other organisations. If you're interested in organising a Try Dive for a group, please get in touch with us to discuss what's possible.

Question 5

What happens during a Try Dive?

Accepted Answer

You’ll meet your instructor and be introduced to the club before receiving a safety briefing and getting familiar with your scuba equipment. We’ll help you get everything fitted correctly before you head into the pool for your dive.

Question 6

What do I need to bring?

Accepted Answer

Bring your swimwear, a towel and a T-shirt or rash vest to wear in the pool. You’ll also need to complete a medical declaration form before taking part. If you’d like photos during your session, you’ll need to complete a photo consent form too.

Question 7

Is all scuba equipment provided?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide the scuba equipment you’ll need, including a mask, fins, BCD, regulator, air cylinder and weights. If you have your own mask or fins that you’d prefer to use, you’re welcome to bring them.

Question 8

How old do I need to be?

Accepted Answer

The minimum age for a Try Dive is 10. Anyone under 18 will need parental consent.

Question 9

Do I need to be able to swim?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but you don’t need to be a particularly strong swimmer. You just need to be able to swim and feel comfortable in the water.

Question 10

Are there any medical requirements?

Accepted Answer

You’ll need to complete a short medical declaration before taking part. Some health or medical conditions may affect whether you can dive, so please contact the club if you’re unsure.

Question 11

Is the pool accessible?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The swimming pool is wheelchair accessible and has hoists and disabled access facilities. If you have any particular accessibility requirements, get in touch before your Try Dive so we can help.

Question 12

What will I leave with?

Accepted Answer

As well as experiencing scuba diving and breathing underwater for the first time, you’ll receive a certificate of completion. Photos can also be taken during your session if arranged beforehand.
